Royal Caribbean Wi-Fi gets a SpaceX boost

Wi-Fi on Royal Caribbean cruise ships will to get an out of this world boost.

Starlink Internet by SpaceX will power internet service on to the Royal Caribbean fleet by the first quarter of 2023

Royal Caribbean said it is the first cruise operator to use Starlink, which will provide ‘a better onboard experience for guests and crew fleetwide.’

Ships pay initial setup costs of $10,000 and a $5,000 monthly service fee.

There are currently thought to be about 3,000 active Starlink satellites in orbit.

Shipboard Wi-Fi is up to now notoriously unreliable and expensive.
