Ryanair grows despite pilots’ strike
Ryanair carried 8% more passengers in August than in the same month last year, despite a two-day strike by its pilots on August 22 and 23.
In total, 14.9 million passengers flew with the airline last month, pushing the airline’s rolling 12-month total to 149.2 million.
The airline claims its passengers have largely been unaffected by this summer’s strike action by UK pilots, the latest of which was yesterday. UK members of the British Airline Pilots Association are due to walk out again tomorrow for 48 hours.
Meanwhile, Lauda, the Austrian carrier bought by Ryanair in January, has seen a 20% rise in traffic from 500,000 in August 2018 to 600,000 last month.
