Salt Lake airport efforts to speed up security may spread to other areas
Salt Lake City International Airport’s efforts to speed up security checkpoints may be adopted in other areas, security officials say.
Travelers in Salt Lake are being divided into three groups, depending on the number of carry-on bags, whether they’re with children and other factors.
The head of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) says the idea is to separate large groups or heavy packers from those who can move through the lines quickly.
The program could spread next to the Denver airport, said Kip Hawley, TSA spokesman.
The TSA calls it the “Black Diamond Project,” a reference to the most challenging ski runs.
