San Francisco Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 tickets on sale soon
San Francisco is expecting a scrum for tickets for the first ever Rugby World Cup Sevens tournament in North America, when match tickets go on general sale next week.
Tickets for RWC Sevens 2018 open on July 20, exactly one year before the tournament kicks off with big crowds expected at AT&T Park for the three-day competition.
"Our plans are right on track to make Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 a tournament to remember. The ticketing program is so important and it’s another exciting milestone for RWC Sevens that we have now set a date for that," said USA Rugby CEO Dan Payne.
"With one year to go, the countdown is really on and we are pleased to announce the dates of the general sale today, giving fans the chance to save the date and plan ahead. We have seen a very strong response to the rugby community in the USA, all over North America and around the world as people plan their trip to San Francisco next year."
Payne says a global event like RWC Sevens will be a catalyst for the development of grass roots rugby across the US.
"We want to make sure that the legacy from hosting the tournament is real and lasting – we want more people playing, coaching, refereeing and volunteering, watching and talking about rugby – and we are on our way to delivering that vision."
While match tickets go on public sale next week, subscribers to the RWC Sevens 2018 Newsletter are offered a special promotional code giving them advance access.
"The vision and dedication of the event organizers is driving great excitement and enthusiasm across the Bay Area, the USA and further beyond and fans of the shorter format of the game look forward to enjoying the best that sevens has to offer," said World Rugby Chairman Bill Beaumont, who is a former England rugby captain.
