Scenic Group acquires Mayflower Tours
Australia-based Scenic Group has announced the acquisition of Mayflower Tours.
It will see the retirement of Mayflower founders John and Mary Stachnik who established Mayflower Tours nearly 40 years ago.
Mayflower Cruises & Tours, based near Chicago, will continue as a separate entity and helmed by current Mayflower president, Nish Patel.
"The Scenic Group and Mayflower – this is a perfect match. Mayflower’s fastest growing product segment is the river cruises and having access to Scenic’ s excellent quality and vast inventory will offer substantial growth," Patel said.
Scenic began in 1986 operating motorcoach tours across Australia and launched river cruising a decade ago.
"We are always looking for synergies that produce greater opportunities for our guests. We have worked with Mayflower Tours for several years and have always been incredibly impressed with the level of service and offerings," said Glen Moroney, founder and chairman of Scenic Group.
The company is also introducing two luxury yacht vessels over the next two years.
The first of these, the Scenic Eclipse, just floated out earlier this month.
