Search for new chair in Yorkshire
The search has begun for a new chair for Welcome to Yorkshire as Clare Morrow retires from the role after seven years.
Clare was appointed to the Board in 2008 to oversee a project to modernise the image of Yorkshire, increase confidence in the brand and significantly raise the county’s profile nationally and internationally.
Shortly after she took over the role at the former Yorkshire Tourist Board the organisation recruited a new chief executive, Gary Verity and rebranded itself as Welcome to Yorkshire.
After a series of high profile promotional campaigns, the organisation’s work was credited with helping to increase the economic value of Yorkshire’s tourism industry from £6.3bn to over £7bn within the first two years of the rebrand.
Sir Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: "We could not have wished for a better Chair at Welcome to Yorkshire than Clare. The unprecedented success the organisation and the sector has enjoyed in recent times has happened on her watch. "
