Security official arrested for bringing gun to airport
An airport security official was arrested for bringing a loaded gun to work.
The Transportation Security Administration employee was detained at Denver Airport in the US.
Police spokesman Doug Schepman said no charges have been brought against the male worker yet, as investigations are ongoing into the incident.
The employee joined the TSA in 2002 and is thought to serve in a support role and not as a frontline screener.
"TSA takes the potential for insider threats at airports very seriously. At this moment, there is no reasonable cause to believe that the employee who was found with a handgun in his backpack prior to his shift had any ill intentions," the TSA said in a statement, addressed to local news station Denver7.
"The case is currently with local law enforcement and the employee has been suspended until the investigation is completed. TSA administers employee security checks at airports prior to accessing sterile areas."
