Singapore adds Hong Kong, Macau for quarantine-free travel
Singapore has expanded its phased reopening with travellers from Hong Kong and Macau soon able to skip stay-home quarantine.
It comes a few days after announcing it will allow vaccinated visitors from Germany and Brunei from 8 September.
It is unilaterally open borders to Hong Kong and Macau and travellers who can apply for an Air Travel Pass to enter Singapore from this week.
It comes just days after the long planned Singapore-HK air travel bubble was officially scrapped.
Unlike the Germany and Brunei travel lanes, visitors from Hong Kong and Macao do not have to be vaccinated but must have been there for the last 21 consecutive days.
They are subject to Covid testing on arrival at Singapore Changi Airport.
Singapore’s Transport Minister S. Iswaran told Bloomberg it hopes to add more low risk countries.
It will ‘work from there to see which countries and how we can go about it’ the minister said.
