Singapore Airlines restarting New York flights
Singapore Airlines will resume long haul flights to New York from next month.
It says there are ‘early signs of optimism about a recovery’ and will restart the route on 9 November.
Flights will operate three times a week between Singapore Changi Airport and New York JFK.
"Operating to JFK International Airport would allow Singapore Airlines to better accommodate a mix of passenger and cargo traffic on its services to New York in the current operating climate," the airline said.
SIA said it will represent the only nonstop air cargo link from the US Northeast to Singapore.
It currently operates nonstop passenger services to Los Angeles and will continue to monitor US-Asia demand.
Restarting New York flights is a key milestone, says Lee Lik Hsin, SIA’s Executive Vice President, Commercial.
"Nonstop ultra-long services are the bedrock of our services to the key US market. We will continue to ramp up existing services and reinstate other points as demand returns," Lee said.
The Singapore-New York route takes 18 hours.
