SINGAPORE – Online accommodation website, Wotif.com announced Singapore as the top city, and Thailand as the top country in their top Asian destinations for 2007.

Year-round demand from business and leisure travellers saw both Singapore and Hong Kong in high demand throughout 2007 taking the top two spots in the list of cities booked through Wotif.com for the year.

Director of business development and marketing in Asia, Rita Goh said, “Singapore and Hong Kong are key Asian destinations where we have a great range of properties, so it’s not surprising to see them take the top positions for 2007.

Ho Chi Minh City made it into the list of top cities for the first time.

In the list of top countries booked through Wotif.com for 2007, Thailand moved up two spots from last year to take the top spot.

“Wotif.com’s increased popularity with Asian bookers, in particular those in Singapore, has aided the growth in bookings into Thai properties,” said Goh.

“In addition, Wotif.com’s increased range of accommodation, frequent promotions from low budget airlines and rising consumer confidence in booking through the internet attracted more bookers to Thailand.”

While most countries held their positions from last year, Japan – which has only been listed on Wotif.com since early 2007 – made its debut in eighth place.
