Ski specialist Skiweekends has gone bust
Long-established ski specialist Skiweekends, owned by former TUI and Neilson GM Dan Fox, has ceased trading.
Its parent, Harris Holidays, called in the administrators on 4 August, according to the Civil Aviation Authority.
The Southampton-based company also owned the trading names Mountainweekends.com, Skiweeks.co.uk, international-academy.com and snow-academy.com.
It claimed on its website skiweekends.com to have been operating for more than 30 years.
ABTA said the majority of bookings are ATOL-protected, but there are a ‘small number’ of non-flight packages, which are protected by Financial Failure Insurance arranged through Towergate Chapman Stevens.
The company was licensed to sell up to 5,000 flight-based packages.
The CAA said a claim form will be published shortly. It urged users not to use claim forms from other failures as these cannot be accepted.
It added: "If you are a travel agent of Harris Holidays Ltd and you are currently holding consumer payments which you have not yet paid to Harris Holidays Ltd, you are advised not to refund consumers with these funds until you have received instructions from the Air Travel Trust. Travel agents will be individually contacted by the CAA with specific instructions for these bookings."
