Sofitel Metropole reaches new heights
HANOI – The French colonial style Sofitel Metropole Hanoi is continuing to upgrade its rooms and guests facilities.
Built in 1901 by two private French investors, the hotel has had five name changes but according to guests has never been better following the renovation of its 157-room Opera Wing.
Sofitel Metropole general manager Gilles Cretallaz said the renovation of the Opera wing “helps integrate both the historical and modern parts of the hotel while installing the very latest guest-orientated technology”.
Ongoing renovations will see the hotel’s fitness centre move to a new poolside area and available exclusively to hotel guests with no outside membership.
The hotel’s Met Pub is being transformed into a trendy, retro—style Italian restaurant called Angelina’s – named after recent hotel guest Angelina Jolie.
The 80-seat restaurant will spread over two floors and will include a bar, wine cellar and private rooms.
Previously the Metropole’s Opera Wing used only four floors of the seven-storey building, but offices on the other three floors have been converted to guest rooms. Work on last of the rooms to be converted, on the fourth floor, is in progress.
Floors 5 and 6 are being converted to Club floors, including a Club Lounge, and for the first time the Metropole will have a presidential suite on the sixth floor.
At the end of November, administration offices will make way for a luxury health and beauty centre, LeSpa du Metropole.
