Solo’s reunites holidaymakers by the internet
A singles holidays operator claims a new “holidaymakers reunited” website has attracted hundreds of users in just a few weeks.
The www.solosreunited.co.uk site by Solo’s Holidays gives people the chance to swap advice and stories, meet others in their group before travelling and get in contact with old friends made on a previous holidays.
The sister site to www.solosholidays.co.uk has only been running for several weeks and already hundreds of people have signed up and are exchanging stories and ideas, according to the company.
Solo’s managing director Gill Harvey said: “Going ‘solo’ for the first time can be a daunting experience but realising you’re in the same boat as other people can make a real difference. The website gives newcomers, as well as existing customers, the chance to read other people’s views and see photos from some of the holidays.
“We have been inundated with people signing up to www.solosreunited.co.uk and hundreds of new customers and existing ones are chatting online everyday about anything from which are the best activity holidays to where’s best to go for New Year.
“Talking to others in the same circumstances can give people the confidence to take the plunge and book their first holiday alone, and in doing so open a door to new opportunities and experiences.”
Solo’s estimates 48% of the UK adult population is single, meaning that 15 million people aged over 25 are single in the UK. Government statistics suggest that this is set to increase further.
