South Africa clarifies changes to travelling with children
South Africa has clarified that the new supporting documents required for travellers with children will not be needed by passengers in transit.
The South African Department of Home Affairs has confirmed that no supporting documents will be required by people in direct transit through a South African International Airport.
However, those holidaying in South Africa with children (under 18) must now have the child’s full unabridged birth certificate, from June 1.
If a child is travelling with only one parent, with neither biological parent, or unaccompanied, it needs a ‘parental consent affidavit’ from the non-travelling parent whose details are recorded on the birth certificate.
