Stansted should get the new runway claims Ryanair boss
Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary believes Stansted is where a new runway will be built for the South East.
Speaking to Suffolk businesses at the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce in Bury St Edmunds, he said that perceptions of Stansted were wrong.
He said it was not far from London and that it boasted more European and UK routes than Heathrow.
He added that he felt the airport would eventually be where a new runway was built because unlike Heathrow and Gatwick, ‘you do not need to move the M25’.
O’Leary said to the Bury Free Press: " Stansted was already the UK’s fastest growing airport.
"Support Stansted because it is going to be the main engine of growth in the region over the next five years."
