Stars won’t shine on South Florida
Pity poor Miami: for all its glamour and glitz, it can’t buy a five-star hotel.
Mobil travel inspectors once again relegated the area’s fanciest hotels to four-stars.
The culprit for withholding the top ranking: service shortcomings.
“It’s challenging on a day-to-day basis for a hotelier to deliver that sense of anticipatory service,” said Mobil spokesman Shane O’Flaherty.
“The continued lack of a five-star hotel denies South Florida a milestone in its push for more affluent travelers — and touches on the Miami Area’s reputation for subpar service,” wrote The Miami Herald McClatchy-Tribune Business News.
