Startup StarLux Airlines earns its wings
Taiwan’s ministry of transportation and communications has officially approved StarLux Airlines as Taiwan’s seventh international carrier.
It got the green light and now waits to officially receive its air operator certificate from the Civil Aeronautics Administration.
Airline management still haven’t disclosed details of its launch but it plans to be up and running by late January in time for the busy Lunar New Year holidays.
It has leased 10 Airbus A321neo aircraft and received the first of these recently.
It expects to take delivery of two more by the end of December.
The company recently announced it plans to begin flying to Macau, Danang in Vietnam and Penang in Malaysia.
Starlux has also placed an order for Airbus A350 jets and when it takes delivery of these plans to spread its wings with direct flights to North America from 2022.
