Teletext introduces ‘interactive virtual assistant’
Teletext Holidays website is to be enhanced with the creation of a ‘Lingubot’ interactive virtual assistant.
The company says customers will be able to ask for advice 24 hours a day, seven days a week using real time technology from next month.
The Lingubot – called Jodie – will be capable of holding a conversation with customers, directing users to the relevant web pages, according to Teletext.
The technology is based on a word a phrase recognition system that matches pre-programmed responses in the Lingubot’s database with questions typed in by users.
“The more questions she is asked, the more knowledge she gains, ultimately with the ability to answer every question a customer may direct to her,” a Teletext statement said.
The aim is to provide improved sales leads for advertisers on www.teletextholidays.co.uk while improving the user experience.
Online commercial director Matt Cheevers said: “This is exciting technology and will only enhance the experience our customers have whilst visiting the site, ultimately impacting on the number of repeat visitors and higher conversion rates for our advertisers.”
