Thai Airways to introduce ‘preferred seat’ upgrades on international routes
Thai Airways is to follow its Star Alliance partners and start charging a premium for extra legroom seats on all international routes.
From mid-August, economy and Royal Silk passengers will be able to reserve the front row and emergency exit row seats for an additional fee.
The ‘preferred seat’ upgrade fees will be based on flight duration.
"Twenty-five premium airlines in the Star Alliance already collect additional fees for front-row seats. We are the latest airline to introduce the scheme," said Wiwat Piyawiroj, Thai Airways’ vice president.
The upgrades will be available to book on Thai Airways’ website from mid-August.
Additionally, a business-to-first-class upgrade option is available on relevant flights.
