The Brits ban Australia’s bloody ads – again
Brits have banned posters featuring Tourism Australia’s slogan,”So where the bloody hell are you with Tourism Minster Fran Bailey as a result, likely to be on the first flight to London.
The Advertising Standards Authority say that the posters are in breach of the industry code, generating 32 complaints from people who found it offensive and feared children might see – yes 32 out of a population of nearly 60 million!
The ASA has told Tourism Australia to remove the posters and not to use swear words in any future posters, adding, “We considered that parents were entitled to expect that poster advertising should not appear to endorse or encourage swearing.”
The ASA says that the three posters breach advertising rules relating to responsibility and children, with previous objections relating to news and TV ads having led to previous bans and Aussie TV commercials having to be screened after 9pm.
