The Mystery behind the Mask!

Monday, 29 Sep, 2008 0

I wondered why in Venice, nearly every shop window had a mask in it, but now I know!

You too can now don a mask for some mystery and magic during the 2009 Venice Festival, with Flight Centre and Topdeck releasing a four-day package to be amongst the fun, masks and entertainment, which will be everywhere in the city, from February 20 to 23, 2009.

The days of the Carnival of Venice are magical with masked parties held in the streets and in buildings, and if travellers don’t have a mask, they can easily buy one from the many traditional mask shops.

As usual there will be the Volo dell’Angelo (Flight of the Angel), the Festa delle Marie (Celebration of the Marie), the Gran Corteo Storico (Great Historic Parade) and the Sfilata delle Maschere (Mask Procession).

Prices start from an amazing $485* per person twin share and include three nights’ accommodation, motor boat transfers, breakfast daily, guided walking tour of Venice’s major, tickets to the Masquerade party at Fusina Bar and services of tour leader.

Airfares are not included.

For bookings and details phone your nearest Flight Centre store on 131 600 or www.flightcentre.com.au

FYI – Have no illusions, Venice is very expensive indeed, so pre-book whatever you can before leaving Australia – for example a water taxi form the airport can cost €100, so this is a very good deal indeed!
