Thomas Cook to add 11 more own-brand hotels
Thomas Cook will open 11 more own-brand hotels, bringing the total number it plans to roll out between now and the 2018/19 winter season to 20.
In the same timescale, 19 properties currently in the portfolio will be removed. They are 13 smartline hotels, four SENTIDO and two Sunconnect properties.
The 11 new properties are four SENTIDO hotels, three in Spain and one in Sardinia, all due to open in summer 2018.
Three Sunprime adult-only properties, two of which – Kos and Cyprus – will open in summer 2018 and one, in Gambia, will open in winter 2018.
One family SunConnect hotel, in Crete, and three Smartline three- and four-star hotels, in Portugal, Crete and Greece, will open in summer 2018.
The 11 new properties are in addition to nine already announced, which include a Smartline Ras Al Khaimah Beach Resort for winter 2017/18 and two Smartline properties in Lanzarote for winter 2017/18.
Thomas Cook Group CEO Peter Fankhauser said: "The 11 new hotels we have announced today are testament to our commitment to invest in providing our customers with the best hotels to suit their preferences and pockets.
"We continue to open up new destinations for our customers as well as offer a range of hotels in popular areas that give us a resilient portfolio for summer 2018.
"Our own-brand hotels give us the opportunity to take even more control of the customer experience."
The announcement of the latest hotels follows the recent introduction of Aldiana as a new own-brand to Thomas Cook, subject to completion of the acquisition of a 42% stake.
The Aldiana acquisition brings the addition of its eight club resort properties to the Thomas Cook own-brand hotels portfolio.
