Three bombs hit Buenos Aires
Three bombs exploded at banks in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires yesterday, killing one person and seriously injuring another. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks which, The Independent reports, were not powerful enough to cause major damage. As reported by News From Abroad, there have been several other bombings of banks in recent months and years – particularly during the company’s economic collapse in 2002,which many blamed on banks, particularly foreign-owned ones. Two of yesterday’s blasts were at Citibank branches; a private security guard was killed in the first of these. At the second, a bomb squad officer was injured while trying to protect a member of public, and the third was at a branch of the local bank, Banco Galicia. Report by Tim Gillett, News From Abroad Ltd
