Tickets for Disneyland Shanghai sell out within minutes

Monday, 30 Mar, 2016 0
Disney opened live ticket sales for the June grand opening of Disneyland Shanghai, and it took just minutes for a complete sell out.

All were snapped up within minutes of going on sale at midnight Monday and such was the volume of traffic, the website temporarily crashed.

"Within half an hour, clicks on the website reached more than five million. The massive volume resulted in our ticketing system temporarily malfunctioning," Shanghai Disney Resort said in a statement.

The park’s tickets are also sold on the Alitrip travel marketplace which said more than 20,000 tickets were sold within 30 minutes.

The theme park offers regular and peak time tickets from 370 yuan up to 499 yuan for busy weekends and holidays.

Tickets for the grand opening period from June 16 to 30 are charged at the peak rate.
