Tiger to speed up Airbus deliveries
SINGAPORE – Tiger Aviation has released its passenger figures for the year ending March 31. They show a strong year on year performance with continued growth across both load factors and passengers flown.
Tiger Aviation CEO and president Tony Davis said, “With the successful launch of Tiger Airways Australia in November 2007, this was the best quarterly performance for the group to date.
“Tiger Airways Singapore has delivered solid growth and financial results, and is firmly established as the leading low fare airline based in Singapore.
“Tiger Airways Australia has delivered encouraging business results to date and we are confident that it will be a successful domestic low fare airline in Australia.”
Davis also announced that the airline group is bringing forward the delivery schedule of its Airbus 320 aircraft orders in response to the strong demand for its low fare services.
Tiger Financial Year 2007/8 highlights:
– Record 107.7 per cent year-on-year growth in gross revenue in Q4, resulting in 81.6 per cent year-on-year growth for FY2007/8
– 82.7 per cent year-on-year growth in passengers carried in Q4
– Passenger growth for the year over 50 per cent with 2.25 million seats sold
– Load factor year-on-year growth was eight per cent for the FY2007/8
– Capacity rose by 62.9 per cent in Q4 with the arrival off three new Airbus aircraft, resulting in 39.6 per cent year-on-year growth for FY2007/8
The Tiger group will release its financial results following a formal audit but said it anticipates a strong financial performance based on the strong operating figures.
