Tom Nutley takes PATA role
Reed Travel Exhibitions chairman Tom Nutley has become chairman of the PATA UK Chapter.
He pledged to help “some of the fastest growing and best value destinations in the world” to maximise business from the UK.
He said: “PATA is the leader, advocate and catalyst for developing Asia Pacific’s travel and tourism industry and I hope that I will be able to assist the UK members where ever I can to expand the volume of business that is conducted.
“In an ever increasingly complex, challenging and competitive world, the PATA UK Chapter website is an example of many innovations which have been introduced to ensure members not only get as much exposure as possible but are also kept up to date with the region’s news, as it happens, together with our many UK based activities.
“Some of these activities can only be offered with a short lead-in time, such as overseas familiarisation visits for our agents and tour operator members, but can do a considerable amount in helping Pacific and Asian destinations to attain the kind of recognition they deserve in the UK.
“Other activities in the UK include networking opportunities, a regular email newsletter with news of developments within the region, exposure in and customer referral from the PATA UK website, an online training programme, social events such as the South West England Showcase next month, the House of Commons Dinner in November, the Christmas Lunch in December and above all, recognition as a Pacific Asia Specialist.”
