Tourism Vancouver partners with Airbnb
Vancouver has inked a first-of-its-kind agreement in Canada with Airbnb to promote the destination.
Tourism Vancouver plans to share tourism data with the home sharing company and work together on joint marketing efforts.
Airbnb says it hopes to build on the 400,000 travelers who booked Airbnb accommodations in the city last year, generating about $425 million for the local economy.
"Airbnb is thrilled to be working with Tourism Vancouver to further build Vancouver’s profile as a global destination," said Alex Dagg, director of public policy for Airbnb Canada.
Airbnb will market the city via the Airbnb website and on its social media channels.
It will also promote its services to potential hosts in Vancouver to offer a ‘diverse options to suit every budget and style.’
"This partnership is an important milestone for both organizations as we work to meet the growing needs of global travelers to our region," said Ty Speer, CEO of Tourism Vancouver.
