Tourist mauled by tiger in Thailand
A tourist was rushed to hospital after being mauled by a tiger in the Tiger Kingdom Park in the Thai resort of Phuket.
Paul Goudie, 49, from Australia, was attacked when he stepped inside a cage to pet one of the larger tigers, said the Telegraph.
Park attendants dragged the victim to safety, said the report, but he sustained injuries to his stomach and legs and needed emergency treatment at Phuket hospital where he is now said to be in a satisfactory condition.
Tiger Kingdom opened in Phuket in August last year and hundreds of visitors a day pay up to £70 to visit a host of separate tiger enclosures where they can pose with chained adult tigers and bottle feed cubs.
Last year, a 19-year old British student, Isabelle Brennan, was badly bitten by a tiger at the Tiger Temple park in the Kanchanaburi district of Thailand.
In 2011, a Thai woman suffered severe head and arm injuries after she was mauled by a tiger at the Million Year Stone Park and Pattaya Crocodile Farm located in East Pattaya.
While in 2009, a woman from New Zealand was left hospitalised for weeks after touching a tiger’s head at the Khumsu Chiang Mai Tiger Centre, in the north of Thailand.
