Travel agents – for your wealthiest clients!!
The world’s only operating space-travel agency and tour operator, Space Adventures, will next month publish a travel guide to the stars to give aspiring and armchair astronauts a glimpse of stellar tourism.
The Space Tourist’s Handbook promises to be the “ultimate guide for those who have ever dreamed of travelling to the final frontier”, the company said recently.
The book will cover everything from travel planning tips to life-and-death survival skills, with sections on the best destinations, vehicles, types of missions, training and preparation involved.
Publication comes swiftly on the heels of the safe return to earth this week of US millionaire businessman Greg Olsen, who paid Space Adventures $US20 million ($A26 million) to spend eight days aboard the International Space Station.
While a “must have” for agent’s clients who want the ultimate trip, The Space Tourist’s Handbook is apparently targeted at people who would like to go to space in our lifetime.
Space Adventures is also developing other programs such as a sub-orbital space flight for about $US100,000 ($A131,400) and zero-gravity flights for $US3000 ($A3940).
So, if you have clients who want the ultimate, this may beat a first class trip and even the recently demised Concorde – albeit at significantly greater cost. The Mole wonders what the commission levels are and if there are overrides for volume sales?!?!?!?
