Wednesday markets see modest movements for industry shares
There were few major movements for travel industry shares yesterday as London’s equity markets managed to register some modest gains. The FTSE 100 index gained 0.7 per cent in value, adding 29 points to close at 4206.4, while the FTSE 250 gained just 0.2 per cent to close at 5575.2, 12.3 points to the good. Dealers were once again fairly busy, trading 2.8 billion shares on the day.
Among the airlines, British Airways added a penny to close at 188.75, easyJet put on half a penny to end the day at 241.5, while Ryanair lost 2p to close at 452p. On the online side, ebookers dropped 7p for a 574p finish, while lastminute.com was static at 268.5p. First Choice Holidays dropped 2.5p to 114p, while MyTravel added half a penny to close at 25p.
