TUI calls centre saved from axe
TUI is recruiting staff to work at its Swansea calls centre, which had been due to close with the possible loss of up to 50 jobs.
Last September, the operator announced plans to relocate its cruise support roles from the office in Mariner Street to its Luton HQ.
However, retail and financial service director Kathryn Ward confirmed today the company had decided to keep the calls centre open as a satellite operation supporting the Thomson and First Choice calls centre in Coventry.
Instead of offering sales, staff in south Wales will provide a pre-travel service, said the operator.
Ward said: "The team in Swansea is highly respected across our business for the high levels of service and support they provide to our customers.
"I am therefore delighted that as well as being able to keep the call centre open we now have vacancies to fill."
The company is looking to fill five vacancies in Swansea, although the overall number employed at the calls centre will remain at 50.
Current vacancies available include contact centre agents and a training consultant, although the company said it expects to announce more vacancies shortly.
