TUI shops, resorts and flights to observe minute’s silence today
Thomson and First Choice will be observing the minute’s silence at noon today for victims of last Friday’s gun attack in Tunisia.
The TUI operators said staff and customers in their shops, resorts, head offices and on flights will be invited to take part in the minute’s silence to remember those killed and injured in the horrific beach shooting a week ago.
Flags over Whitehall and Buckingham Palace will be flown at half-mast and the tennis at Wimbledon will be delayed to give spectators and players the chance to take part.
A special ceremony will be held at the scene of the shootings in remembrance of the 38 people killed.
Thomson and First Choice have confirmed that all of the British people killed in last Friday’s gun attack in Sousse were their customers.
The FCO, UK Police and Tunisian Authorities have now positively identified 30 British holidaymakers as victims.
Thomson and First Choice issued a statement extending their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of those involved in the tragic event.
"Our main focus now is to ensure the families of the deceased and our customers who have been injured receive all possible support at this incredibly difficult time," said the statement.
"Everyone at Thomson and First Choice is absolutely devastated by the tragic loss of life and terrible pain that this incident has caused.
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank our staff in Tunisia, in the air and here in the UK as well as the Tunisian emergency services and authorities for their incredible efforts, in very difficult circumstances, over the last week."
