TUI takes action to help protect turtles
TUI has joined forces with local organisations on Cape Verde, Turkey and Greece to protect turtles as part of its Turtle Aid programme.
The travel giant says the efforts, under its TUI Care Foundation initiative, will protect the welfare of 1 million new-born turtles by 2020.
In the coming months the programme will be expanded to more regions all over the world and will also involve innovative research and protection methods to help protect the endangered global sea turtle population.
Six of the seven marine turtle species are considered critically endangered, endangered or vulnerable on the IUCN Red List.
According to experts, only 1 in 1000 baby turtles survives to adulthood under natural conditions.
