Tunisia launches first European ad campaign
Tunisia has launched its first European advertising campaign, running from now until the autumn.
It hopes the campaign will encourage holidaymakers from the UK and other key European markets to rediscover the destination.
"Since tourism started in Tunisia in the early 1960s, the destination has managed to overcome all sorts of crises," said Wahida Jaiet, TNTO director for the UK and Ireland.
"Tourism figures for 2013 are looking strong and we hope that with the aid of our campaign and our partners’ commitment, we can look forward to welcoming more visitors from the UK and the rest of Europe. Initial feedback is promising and encouraging."
Tourist officials said Tunisia has made great progress towards democracy and aims to recover its 2010 tourism visitors high.
It said March 2013 show a 1.4% increase in UK visitors compared to March 2010 and figures for the first quarter of 2013 are already 20% higher than at the same time last year.
