Two killed in Bangkok drive-by attack
Tension is building on the streets of Bangkok after two people were gunned down and 21 wounded in a drive-by and a grenade attack at anti-government protest camps in the Thai capital.
Witnesses reported explosions and gunfire at a protest camp at the city’s Democracy Monument.
The latest deadly incident comes after former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra was removed by a Thai court last week.
At least 27 people have been killed and hundreds wounded since the protest campaign began in November.
The current anti-government protesters want to replace the administration with an unelected “people’s council”.
The protests by pro- and anti-government groups show no signs of letting up, exposing the Thai economy, and in particular its tourism industry, to a sharp slowdown.
