UK RE-INTRODUCES TWO-PIECE HAND BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE
British Airways has welcomed the UK Department for Transport’s announcement that it has given approval to a number of UK airports to remove the one-bag restriction on hand baggage.
With effect from yesterday, January 7, 2008, British Airways will re-introduce its two-piece hand baggage allowance for customers transferring through and departing from Heathrow, as well as a number of other UK airports.
British Airways’ regional general manager, Roger Burr, said, “We are extremely pleased to see these restrictions lifted. We have argued for many months that the one-bag restriction was a serious inconvenience for passengers and not justified on security grounds.
“From January 7, our customers will be able to take two pieces of hand baggage when transferring through or departing from Heathrow, placing it on a level footing with airports across the rest of the world.”
