UNWTO chief Geoffrey Lipman formally endorses Australasian Economic Travel and Tourism Resilience Forum – December 6.
It is always very reassuring indeed to receive the support, comments and endorsements of senior and influential global colleagues in relation to activities one undertakes, inclduing the Australasian Economic Resilience Forum taking place tomorrow, Saturday December 6.
It is especially reassuring that we are doing the “right thing” when those activities are not for personal benefit, but for the benefit of the industry as a whole, as is the case with the Forum.
The following email was received today by David Beirman, coorganiser of the Forum along with Stephen Morton of eTravelBlackboard and myself, from Geoffrey Lipman, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation and it speaks for itself!

Dear David
On behalf of UNWTO could I formally congratulate you and your colleagues on the professionalism and the skills with which you have put this session together and for your readiness to link with the work of our Resilience Committee.
In today’s 24 on 7 on 365 instant information age and social networking lifestyle, old ways of working are simply redundant and there is no ownership of good ideas nor a monopoly on how they are deployed.
We are very pleased to be associated with this initiative and would be happy for you to make this known.
We would also value very much receiving the outcomes which we will factor into the global work of the Resilience Committee with the acknowledgement of source.
At the moment we are planning the first Resilience Committee at FITUR in Spain late January then at ITB in Germany and again before our Assembly in Kazakhstan in October.
We are considering regional sessions against this background.
Our focus is:-
** Best real time data forecast on a 3 and 6 month basis – rolling monthly
** Unique simple presentation
** Replicable best practice recommendations for companies and communities
** UNWTO recommendations to policymakers
I look forward to talking to you to follow up
Geoffrey Lipman
