US Airways flights diverted as dog leaves its mark in aisle
A US Airways flight from Los Angeles to Philadelphia made an emergency landing and arrived in Philly several hours late thanks to the call of nature from a service dog.
The dog, belonging to a passenger pooped twice in the center aisle causing nausea to nearby passengers with reports suggesting some were physically sick.
Described as a "rare and unfortunate situation" by US Airways spokesman Andrew Christie, cabin crew then ran out of cleaning fluids and paper towels forcing a diversion to Kansas City, Missouri.
On the tarmac cleaning crews then boarded the plane and cleaned up the mess, before continuing to Philadelphia.
The canine culprit named Truffles, and its owner were accommodated on another flight from Kansas City, the airline said.
Many passengers took to twitter to voice their displeasure at the hold-up.
The departure from Los Angeles had already been delayed by two hours due to fuel problems.
Passenger Micaela Connery tweeted: "After already being delayed two hours we get grounded because of dog poop on the plane, a seven hour trip is now pushing 14."
