‘Virtual Travel Agency’ to launch at WTM
A web-based solution claimed to cover all the needs of travel agents is to be launched by travel technology provider The Vertical Group.
The company will be at World Travel Market next week to unveil ‘Virtual Travel Agency’, claimed to be its most innovative and complete product yet.
Virtual Travel Agency includes website design and hosting, content management, booking systems and online marketing and back-office functionality, all through internet-based access.
The Vertical Group marketing director Peter Whittle said: “It is anticipated that Europe’s online travel market will be worth €28.5/$50 billion by 2006. To compete in today’s highly competitive market, travel agents must move with the times, and moving ahead means moving the entire business online – from reservations to reconciliation.
“Virtual Travel Agency has been designed to help make the high street travel agency more productive and to drive unnecessary costs out of the business.
“Our solution will join up an agent’s operational, sales and marketing strategies, linking all information on a common platform and will streamline the whole business processes. Ultimately, the system will enable agents to concentrate on providing expert advice, and focus their activity on selling travel with the best margins.”
