Vrooom: this hotel package is on the road

Tuesday, 26 Aug, 2008 0

Here’s a novel hotel promotion: stay for two nights at the Chanler at Cliff Walk in Newport, Rhode Island, and you can have your choice of driving a classic car such as a Lamborghini Murcielago roadster e-gear or a Ferrari F430 spider 6-speed and F1 or Bentley Flying Spur automatic.

The only hotel on Newport’s famed Cliff Walk has teamed up with the legendary Otto Club to offer a summer package that includes use of a classic car. The Otto Club is a private club that offers members pay-as-you-go use of a couple of a couple of dozen luxury autos.

The package is for two nights and includes dining at the Spiced Pear restaurant.

The hotel is also throwing in 100 miles worth of gas and a gourmet picnic.

The cost is $9,000 plus taxes and services.

For those who don’t want to bother with driving, the Chanler has a beach butler who will pick up guests in a Range Roger and drive them to the nearby Gooseberry Beach. The butler will also set up chairs and an umbrella, unpick fluffy towels and serve snacks.
