Western Australia hails record year for tourism
Western Australia’s tourism industry had a record breaking year in 2025.
It welcomed more than 11 million overnight and 29.1 million daytrip visitors to the state in 2025.
They spent a combined $19.2 billion, according to the latest visitor data from Tourism Research Australia.
It included steady international visitor numbers at 1.1 million, which is the most ever.
International visitors spent an estimated $3.4 billion in WA.
Eight of the state’s top 10 international markets saw annual growth last year, led by the top source market, United Kingdom.
More than 163,000 visited from the UK spending $414 million.
This is a big 73% increase in overall spend year on year.
However, China remains to top market based on visitor spend, surpassing over half a billion Australian dollars.
The WA Government is this week in China leading a tourism and trade mission with the aim of increasing direct air links to WA.
Other markets including France and Japan also saw big increases in visitation.
Overall, visitor spend was up by nearly one-third.
