Whistler Mountaineer offers "sea to sky" experience
The Whistler Mountaineer is a three-hour rail journey between the cosmopolitan city of Vancouver and the four-season resort town of Whistler, British Columbia. So if you’re visiting Vancouver this summer, why not ditch the car and let the train take the strain instead.
Launched last year, the Whistler Mountaineer follows British Columbia’s magnificent West Coast, offering guests a unique “sea to sky” experience as it winds along ocean shores, through deep canyons and pristine forests, and past stunning snow-capped mountains. What’s more, with an open window Heritage Observation Car, kids are able to get close to the action as the train travels along.
Two different types of experience are available onboard: Glacier Dome and Coast Classic. Glacier Dome offers single-level, air-conditioned glass dome coaches, giving families a front row seat of the endless views en route. On the journey to Whistler, guests are served a hot breakfast, while on the return to North Vancouver, a classic afternoon tea is offered.
Coast Classic features large picture windows and assigned seating with extended legroom in a traditional rail carriage environment, as well as a light meal and beverage service. Both Glacier Dome and Coast Classic guests enjoy the individual attention and interpretative commentary provided by a dedicated Onboard Attendant.
With daily departures and an online booking system that takes reservations until the night before, a trip on the Whistler Mountaineer is easy to arrange too. The Whistler Mountaineer runs daily from now until 14 October 2007 and can be booked on its own or as part of an extended tour.
