Wishing Abraham Lincoln a Happy Birthday!
Springfield, Illinois will be celebrating the 208th Birthday of their most famous son, Abraham Lincoln on 12th February 2017. There are fantastic events taking place across the city, find out more information here:
The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum will be offering FREE admission all day on 12th February. Lincoln’s hat will be on display, as well as Mary Lincoln’s diamonds and original acquisitions. There will be historic characters, musicians, including The Liberty Clarinet Quartet, children’s crafts and games, and other celebratory events throughout the day.
The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum brings to life Abraham Lincoln’s story through immersive exhibits and displays of original artefacts.
Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner will be the featured speaker at the annual Abraham Lincoln Association Symposium Banquet on Sunday, 12th February in Springfield.
In addition to the banquet, there are a selection of events taking place across the weekend. The annual Abraham Lincoln Association-Benjamin Thomas Symposium begins Saturday, 11th February at 6 p.m. in the Old State Capitol Hall of Representatives.
The Thomas F. Schwartz Symposium luncheon begins at noon on 12th February at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, and features speaker Noah Andre Trudeau, author of the new book Lincoln’s Greatest Journey: Sixteen Days that Changed a Presidency.
The Symposium Banquet featuring Governor Rauner brings to a close the two days of Lincoln celebrations.
