Youtravel.com to sponsor TravelMole Web Awards

Tuesday, 11 Mar, 2008 0

Online accommodation supplier Youtravel.com has become headline sponsor of the 2008 TravelMole Web Awards.

More than 150 nominations have already been received for the awards which will be handed out at a ceremony at Canadian High Commission in London on May 15.

Youtravel.com sales and marketing director Paul Riches said: “We’re delighted to be the headline sponsor of the TravelMole Web Awards for the second year running.

“As a young online company we believe that it’s important to support other online players in the travel sector.

“The TravelMole Web Awards give us a chance to get together and talk to other like-minded companies as well as reaching a wider audience through its extensive editorial coverage of the event.”

Three new categories have been introduced this year – for accommodation-only, rail and use of video.

Travel companies are being asked to nominate in a total of 16 categories. The deadline for nominations is Apil 30.

The web award nominations will be whittled down to a shortlist by MBA students who specialise in technology and tourism/travel.

The shortlist is then given to an independent panel – to be announced shortly – who rank each category 1, 2 and 3 and then pass the results to a independent adjudicator.

The UK awards are part of a global family of TravelMole Web Awards, with dedicated events in Asia, Australia and the US.
