Zoom Airlines launches low-cost service to Bermuda
Zoom Airlines has begun twice-weekly direct flights from London Gatwick to Bermuda.
Zoom, which is the first airline to compete with British Airways on the route since 1967, is offering one-way flights for £199 including taxes, fees and charges.
The airline is claiming a 71% saving on a return flight to Bermuda in July excluding a Saturday night stopover with a fare of £360 compared to BA’s £1,232
Passengers will also be able to plan two-centre breaks in Bermuda and New York, flying direct from London Gatwick to New York’s JFK and returning via Bermuda or vice versa.
Economy and Premium Economy services are available and meals and soft drinks are with all fares.
Premium Economy seats can be booked for an additional £99 one way and offer an additional five inches of legroom with a seat pitch of 36 inches, increased baggage allowance, separate check-in facilities and complimentary alcoholic drinks.
Other features of the new low-cost service include the ability to change reservations for a minimal fee, purchase one-way tickets and no restrictions such as having to stay over a Saturday night.
Zoom has been operating full-service, low-cost flights from the UK to Canada for the past three years and recently obtained permission to operate from London Gatwick to the United States.
Flights to Bermuda will operate on Mondays and Fridays until June 23 when they will change to Wednesdays and Sundays.
Flights can be booked via www.flyzoom.com or by phoning 0870 240 0055.
