A personal message from Yeoh Siew Hoon
Dear WIT (Web in Travel) friends
My flight from Penang touched down this morning and I am in good spirits after a weekend on my home island. There’s a wonderful renaissance taking place in the inner city of Georgetown.
What I like most about what’s happening in Penang is that the new hasn’t rubbed out the old. In fact, the two live together side by side.
At lunch, you could be having lunch of pasta and cakes at Amelie, an eclectic little café in Armenian Street and at night, you could be eating at Tek Sen Restaurant in Carnavon Street, which has been there for eons and is packed every night with Penangites who know good food and good value when they find it.
Which reminds me for the reason for this email. Today, August 31, is when the early bird for WIT runs out – by booking your seat before then, you save US$200 and I can tell you, that will buy a lot of meals in Penang or wherever you choose to travel to with the savings.
Our early bird rate is US$888, good value for what we have put together. It allows you entry into five days of learning, networking and fun from the WITovation Entrepreneur Bootcamp on October 18 to the WIT Ideas Lab and WIT Clinics at ITB Asia and, of course, the main event, the WIT Conference.
Since my last email, a few more speakers have also confirmed their participation at WIT.
We have David Sifry, the founder of Technorati, the blog search engine, who will share news of his latest start-up, Offbeat Guides.
He will be joined by his investor Abrar Ahmad, partner at Travel Capitalist Ventures, who will, we hope, shed light on “the next big thingâ€.
They join a roster of close to 80 experts who will come together for an intense few days of collaboration and communing over “The C-Spotâ€.
By the way, I recommend the stingray “assam pedas†fish curry at Tek Sen.
For more enquiries, contact Gerry Pang at [email protected] or +65 979 77730 or visit www.webintravel.com for more information.
See you in October.
