ABTA re-launches ABTASure
ABTA is re-launching its own travel insurance scheme after abandoning it decades ago.
The scheme is being operated in conjunction with Citybond Suretravel. Former ABTA chief executive Ian Reynolds joined Citybond Suretravel as non-executive chairman at the start of this year.
“It is a very competitive product which covers a gap in protection and it will help our members build relationships with consumers,” said ABTA chief executive Mark Tanzer.
ABTA president Justin Fleming said: “We will have a very transparent product. It will be the ‘gold seal’ of insurance products, but also very competitive.”
The product will be available exclusively from ABTA members from January 1 and will offer a range of benefits, online medical screening and passenger protection covering up to £5,000 following the failure of a principal supplier of travel and accommodation arrangements.
