Advantage opts for Sitges for 2008 conference
Independent agency network Advantage is to hold its stand-alone 2008 conference in the Spanish resort of Sitges.
The event, expected to attract 600 agents and suppliers, has been confirmed for September 26-28, 2008.
The Catalan town is a 30 minute train journey to the west of Barcelona.
The conference will be exclusive to Advantage leisure and business travel members with a programme structured with both shared and dedicated sessions for each discipline.
Advantage chief executive John McEwan said: “We are delighted to announce Sitges as the chosen destination for our solus conference in 2008.
“It is the first time this beautiful location has hosted a UK travel conference and we are looking forward to presenting our members and business partners with a new, interesting and highly affordable destination.
“With the conference a full year away, we are planning well ahead to give us plenty of time to organise three hugely worthwhile days for all our delegates. I am confident this conference will become the benchmark in quality for the travel industry.”
Miguel Angel Cusi, UK & Ireland director of the Catalonia Tourist Board, said: “Turisme de Catalunya is very happy to win what is now one of the most prestigious travel industry conferences in the UK. At the same time, we would like to congratulate Advantage for its innovation, originality and creativity in selecting Sitges, a beautiful Catalan coastal village.”
