Air New Zealand releases special fares to try new Boeing 777

To celebrate the entry of the first of eight new Boeing 777-200ERs into the fleet, Air New Zealand has launched special airfares for a limited time only for Australian travellers to experience the new aircraft across the Tasman and see what all the fuss is about.

Air New Zealand will initially utilise the first two Boeing 777 aircraft across the Tasman before taking on permanent long haul routes to the US and Asia.

Decked in the new look Air New Zealand long haul interiors featuring revolutionary lie-flat beds in Business Premier, a new premium economy section offering extra space and digital on-demand entertainment in every seat, the aircraft will fly between Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and Auckland on selected flights between now and December.

The Boeing 777-200 aircraft offers a configuration of 26 Business Premier lie-flat beds, 18 Pacific Premium Economy Class seats and 269 seats in Pacific Economy.

From today until 17 November 2005, Australian travellers can book seats on the new aircraft from just $259 one way in Pacific Economy class including taxes, levies and surcharges between Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and Auckland.

And to take advantage of having a break from the kids for at least the three hour flight time while they’re engrossed with the new inflight entertainment system, a special kids fare (for children 11 years and under) can be purchased with each adult fare for just $119 one way including taxes, levies and surcharges.

The inflight entertainment system features hours of movies, TV shows and audio programmes which can you can stop, rewind, fast forward or change on demand. The system also offers a choice of video games and a dedicated kids zone to keep even the shortest attention span entertained for hours on end.

The special fares are available on Boeing 777 trans-Tasman flights only from 15 November to 15 December 2005. Travel agents also have the opportunity to try out Air New Zealand’s new aircraft and inflight long haul product across the Tasman with a special agents fare released for sale until 30 November 2005.

Also only available on selected services between Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane and Auckland operated by the new Boeing 777s from 15 November – 15 December 2005, the special agents fare is $149 return plus taxes, levies and surcharges.
