Airlines across Europe hit by Italian strike
Airlines across Europe have had to cancel and reschedule flights in response to the 24-hour strike by Italian ground handlers.
EasyJet has cancelled 68 flights, Ryanair, 26 and British Airways, 6 due to the industrial action, according to flight tracking website, Flight Aware.
Most of the disruption is to and from Milan airports, Malpensa and Linate.
Ground Handling unions’ across the country have been striking from 00:00am local time today. At the same time airport and ground handing staff are striking at Milan airports from 13:00 to 17:00 local time (12:00 to 16:00 GMT).
EasyJet, Ryanair and BA advised customers on cancelled flights that they are able to transfer free of charge to the next available flight or apply for a refund.
British Airways said: "We are doing all we can to minimise the effects of the industrial action. We have re-timed a number of flights and are also using larger aircraft where possible."
